Go to the nextstage, and get a Mushroom. (Yes, there will be a Mushroom instead of a FireFlower.) When you touch the Mushroom, you will shrink. Then get a Fire Flower, and you'll have Fire Power as Small Mario. (Note: after you do the Bowser/Axetrick, enemies that touch you will be able to kill you when you are Big Mario. When they touch you while you are Small Mario after getting the Mushroom or FireFlower, you will turn back into Big Mario.)

Glitches World -1
To get to World -1, complete the first level and get to the end pipe in thesecond level as Big Mario. Do not enter the pipe. Instead, stand on top of thepipe and destroy the two blocks to the left of the block touching the end pipe. You must jump through the block touching the end pipe and through the end pipebackwards. This can be a little difficult. When you glitch through the wall, gointo the first pipe you come to. World -1 is an underwater level. What makes itdifferent from other levels is the fact that once you finish the level, it takesyou right back to the beginning of it. Because of this, it can't be completed.
